Waste management expert EnviroServ remains committed to offering a range of sustainable and environmentally responsible waste management solutions tailored to meet the unique challenges facing the mining sector.

The mining industry plays a pivotal role in the global economy, particularly in Africa, where it faces increasing pressure to operate sustainably and minimise environmental impact.

EnviroServ, a sub-Saharan African company, has more than 45 years of experience in providing environmental peace of mind to its customers across various industries, including mining, manufacturing, construction and fast- moving consumer goods (FMCG), with the mining sector being one of the largest.

Just over two years ago, the company was acquired by global waste and water management leader SUEZ, along with local partners Royal Bafokeng Holdings and African Infrastructure Investment Managers. As part of the global SUEZ group, EnviroServ aims to ensure compliance with the highest environmental and safety standards. Through its global partnership with SUEZ, EnviroServ has expanded its service offering and now has the expertise to provide not just comprehensive, environmentally responsible waste management services but also water and wastewater management services, contributing to a circular economy.

From February 3 to 6, an EnviroServ delegation attended Investing in African Mining Indaba 2025 in Cape Town, which brought together diverse stakeholders interested in the growth and sustainability of the mining sector.

“With a focus on sustainability and cost-effectiveness, EnviroServ is proud to support mining companies in their journey toward more responsible environmental practices. Our commitment to quality customer service, stringent safety protocols and innovative waste management solutions positions us as the partner of choice for the mining sector,” says EnviroServ group commercial director Dave Morrey, emphasising that all industries are interconnected and calling for greater collaboration across industries and governments.

He adds that with industries facing increasing scrutiny on environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, EnviroServ, as an organisation with a legacy of sustainable waste management practices, is well-positioned to help its customers, including mining companies, meet their sustainability targets.

Morrey further says that by aligning with global standards, conducting rigorous audits and embedding ESG principles into its core strategy, EnviroServ can ensure that sustainability efforts deliver real impact.

For the mining industry, EnviroServ’s expertise in handling hazardous waste materials, such as rehabilitating land, legacy stockpiles, chemicals, tailings and heavy metals, is crucial in protecting the environment, wildlife and communities.

“We look forward to a continued relationship with mining houses and to demonstrate first-hand how EnviroServ can help mining companies reduce their environmental footprints while improving operational efficiency,” he concludes.
